Tacos of Win

March 31, 2008

So, I like homemade tacos. And who doesn’t? Communists, that’s who.

But for those of you who aren’t communists, here’s a nice little recipe for taco-powered yum that I just concocted. Cheap, veggie-laden, and yummy as heck.

You will need:
– A tortilla shell
– Half a can of red kidney beans
– 1/4 of an onion
– 1/4 of a red pepper
– a clove of garlic
– Some ground beef, or, half a chicken breast
– Some tomato
– Cheese
– Lettuce

Pour half of the kidney beans into a frying pan with the clove of garlic, minced. Dice the 1/4 onion and add. Dice the red pepper and add. Fry, crushing the beans, until you have a mushy sort of goo. Add copious amounts of chili powder, cayenne, and paprika. And garlic powder. Add water and keep frying it. And add more water. And add more water. This takes a lot of water, and this step takes about 30 minutes.

Grate some cheese, put it on your tortilla shell, kinda in a line in the center.

Chop up some tomato, into small cubes.

Once the bean goo is done, generously spoon it out onto your tortilla. I generally go for about half the goo in the frypan. Up to you.

Put the rest of the goo aside, and add some olive oil and the sliced up chicken breast. Or ground beef. Fry, adding small amounts of the above spices.
Cook thoroughly.

Add to tortilla shell. Put your tomato on top. Shred some lettuce, and put that on.

Wrap. Enjoy!
